Care Instructions
🔪How to Murder
Since Spider Plants prefer cooler temps, maybe try putting them in the oven and see how they like that! 🔥
Drowning is always an option
🌍Soil
Spider Plants like potting mix that drains quickly. If you prefer to make your own mix, try a blend of 1 part potting soil, 1 part sand, and 2 parts peat moss
Spider Plants like it crowded, so don’t repot until the large roots are very visible and have made watering the plant difficult
đź’¦Water
Speaking of watering, use room-temperature, filtered or “aged” water (water left in an open container for several days to remove chlorine) if possible
Consistent moisture is ideal, but to be on the safer side, let the soil dry out a bit in-between waterings
To avoid root rot, always empty any excess water from the catch saucer under your plants
đź’©Fertilizer
Spider Plants love a bit of poo in the spring and summer, about once a month. Don’t bother in the fall or winter though, they ain’t hungry!
🌞Environment
Place the spider plant in an area with lots of indirect sun to see it thrive and produce more spiderettes, but low light will do as well
Spider Plants prefer cooler temps, around 55 to 65°F (13-18°C)
🌷Flowers
Spider Plants produce small, white flowers before sprouting spiderettes
âś‚Pruning
Remove spiderettes and prune back your plant a bit in the spring and summer to propagate and ease some of the stress on the primary plant.
🌱Propagation
The easiest and best way to propagate these darlings is to dip the bottom of a spiderette in a pot of moist soil, watch and wait for the roots to take hold, and then straight up cut that baby right off with some sharp pruning shears!
Separate it from it’s parent and give it to one of your pals 🖤
